Although Mfuwe is little more than a blip on the radar in the vast Zambian plains, it serves as an important tourist hub due to its close proximity to the South Luangwa National Park. This reserve is considered one of the worlds greatest wildlife parks, and is filled with astounding wildlife and several exceptional hotels and lodges. Despite the exclusive lodges, hotels, and tented camps that have sprung up in the surrounding areas to service the tourist trade, Mfuwe retains its rural simplicity and still operates on the vagaries of Africa time. It serves mainly as a base for forays into the South Luangwa National Park, or as a stopover en route to Victoria Falls. Here you can enjoy breakfast overlooking the twists and turns of the Luangwa River and the wildlife that come to drink there, and every evening brilliant sunsets will remind you of a day well spent and of adventures yet to come.
