The luxurious Madikwe River Lodge is settled on the banks of Groot Marico River inside the diverse Madikwe Game Reserve, located in the North West bordering Botswana, surrounded by 75 000ha of breathtaking scenery and endless malaria-free African sand-veld, acacia savannah, river-forests and wildlife. Madikwe’s convenient location – only four and a half hours from Gauteng and a mere 45min by aircraft – has ensured its popularity as being easily accessible with excellent service delivery and superb facilities in spectacular bush settings.
Sixteen comfortable and secluded split-level thatched chalets surround the main lodge, each individually decorated to create a rich African feel, with en-suite bathroom and outside shower, full range of guest amenities, separate lounge and private wooden decks overlooking the tranquil forest and river.
An outdoor Boma is located on a central island in the river, accessed by a wooden bridge, with early morning breakfasts served under Acacia trees and fine-dining cuisine under sparkling and smiling stars. Madikwe River Lodge is the ideal venue to host intimate wedding ceremonies amid natural elements in an African ambiance, and very popular for conferencing and incentive group packages with team building activities such as bush dinners, big five spotting, treasure hunts, bird watching programmes, group game drives, game walks, star gazing and swimming.
Safari experiences are in 4×4′s through the untamed wilderness of the Kalahari Thornveld, home to 66 large mammal species and 350 bird species, with opportunities to view wild dog, cheetah, leopard, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo, elephant and bush babies.
