Our horses on property are going to be out of service from Monday, 8th October 2012 – Monday, 19th November 2012, due to their annual horse flu vaccinations. That will mean that we will not be able to offer horse rides or pony rides on property over this period. However, we will have contact details for other stables in the area, and will gladly assist guests with making bookings at these venues, during this period.
Alpine Heath offers a wonderful variety of sports and leisure activities. Ranging from indoor activities like board games, squash, table tennis, gym and our superb spa right through to our extensive out door activities which include horse riding, helicopter flips, fishing, mountain biking, tennis, putt-put, swimming pools, volleyball, jungle gym, trampolines and friendly sport matches. We cater for young and old alike. If it is adrenaline you seek, look no further. A five minute drive from Alpine Heath Resort, All Out Adventures cater for the x-treme adrenaline junkies.
Try fly fishing at one of our 9 fishing spots right on our Resort. Don’t have any rods and flies? Not a problem the Village Market has all you need. From attaining permits to rod hire and a large variety of flies, you’ll need nothing more but your cooler bag!
Helicopter Rides
What better way to explore the Drakensberg then from a birds eye view. The helicopter flips are a must do at Alpine Heath Resort. In conjunction with Westline Aviation, trips varying in duration can be arranged with a mere phone call. For enquiries go to our Activity Desk at Reception.
Scenic Flight: Get up close and personal with the peaks for fifteen minutes.
Champagne Landing: A fifteen minute flight, with a glass of complimentary bubbly at the top.Picnics on request.
The Amphitheatre: experience two amazing World Heritage Sites in sixty minutes- Cathedral Peak and the awesome Royal Natal Amphitheatre. (Seats up to four passengers, depending on weight).

Afraid of the horses? No need, at our Equestrian Centre you can join in the fun with our Horse Play program, here you have a chance to meet the horses, feed and wash them, all under supervision. There is no longer any reason for you to be afraid!

Enjoy a Romantic out-ride with a deliciously prepared picnic basket in the serene setting of the Drakensberg. This is an unforgettable experience for newly weds and older couples alike. Bookings can be made at reception.
Riding Lessons:
Not an avid rider, no worries, take a class at our riding school where our well trained staff will happily teach you all the basics you need to know in order to get the maximum benefit from your out ride. Bookings can be made at reception
Kids Wow Club
Activities galore await you and bright colours surround you in the expertly planned Kids WOW Lounge. Here we keep your kids busy with fun and funky Arts & Crafts and great activities like “Kiddies Little Chefs”! Our fun Entertainment Team awaits you with a full 7-day-a-week programme. Your kids are sure to retire to bed exhausted and excited about the next day’s programme.All the equipment for your leisure activities is readily available from 8am to 5pm at our Leisure Desk which is joined with the Kids WOW Lounge. So whatever you fancy, we are sure to have it right here at Alpine Heath Resort – The Entertainment Capital of the Drakensberg.
Mountain Biking
Why not explore some of the hiking trails on the back of a mountain bike at Alpine Heath Resort. With the freedom to roam around our beautiful valleys and hills you will be sure to experience something new on every trip. A fun and sporty activity to get your heart racing and burn some calories at the same time!In Conjunction with All Out Adventures we now offer over 50km of permanently marked mountain bike trails, with routes for all ability levels. Trails boast memorable climbs, exposed traverses, breathtaking views and screaming down hills! Beginners can enjoy gentle gradients in the Tugela River Valley. Trails are accessed directly from the resort, or from the Adventure Centre. Trail passes are sold from Alpine Heath Reception and the All Out Adventures Activity Centre.
GYPSY’S BEND – 10km Beginner
Montusi Gorge – 20km Intermediate
TRILBY TRAIL – 20km Technical
A technical route; encompassing awesome climbing and breathtaking views. Special features include close up views of the 3000m Amphitheatre, water fall caves, river crossings, flowing contour trails caringly carved along the entire route. This finishes with the famous banked Dutoits Down Hill.
Pool Table
Adjacent to the Leisure Zone, the Pool Table room is there for your enjoyment. No under 16’s are allowed in the Pool Table area. All equipment can be attained from the Leisure Desk between 8am and 5pm, thereafter from reception.
Putt Put
Not a professional golfer? Don’t fret! On our 18-hole Putt Put course you don’t have to be. Grab a putter, a ball and off you go! Our challenging course is sure to give you hours of puzzling fun. All equipment can be attained from the Leisure Desk between 8am and 5pm, thereafter from reception.
Squash Courts
Our indoor Squash Court allows you to practice your back-hand in even the worst kind of weather! There is enough seating for your friends and family as they support you while you challenge your mates! Bookings can be made at the Leisure Desk. Table Tennis
While in the Leisure Zone why not test your game on our standard sized Table Tennis set? Train your hand-ball coordination and reflexes while competing with your mates! Tennis Courts
Our all weather Tennis Courts are set close to the hustle and bustle of the Pool-Deck and Village Square with views of the surrounding mountains.
