Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge and Mangwanani Spa team up to train up locals in Jozini
As of 1 November 2012, Mangwanani Spa will officially launch their new boutique spa at the exquisite Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge. Six local ladies of the Jozini community are already well underway with their intensive training as therapists. According to Beverley Low, PA to Mangwanani’s CEO, the therapists are initially trained on site and then sent to their nearest in-house training school (which in this case is Ballito) to learn how to do common treatments by practising on one-another. Further training is carried out at the Sibaya Mangwanani Spa branch where the therapists-in-training shadow the qualified therapists and eventually assist them with their treatments.
“We only use natural treatments without any cosmetics and every three to six months the therapists will be brought back to Sibaya’s Mangwanani Spa for additional training so they can progress to a higher level of qualification. This will enable them to perform more than just the basic treatments,” said Low. For all six of the local ladies undergoing therapist training this is an opportunity to further their education enabling them to acquire skills and improve their lifestyles. The decision to employ and train people from the Jozini community is in line with both Mangwanani and Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge’s business ethos of developing the skills and talent of staff from local communities.
“We’re thrilled to have Mangwanani on board as a partner. Not only are they a strong brand with a winning formula, but their mission to empower communities through their training and development programmes for therapists, matched with their high standards of excellence, are common goals that we identify with at the hotel,” stated Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge’s General Manager, Gary Segal.
Since the announcement of the partnership, Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge has completely renovated their spa area to reflect the elegant, up-market Afro-chic look and feel that Mangwanani’s boutique spas emulate. Segal also added that the beauty of having the boutique spa on site, and what makes them so different to other spa franchises, is that the treatments will not only be done in-doors with magnificent views of the dam from the treatment rooms – but, because the spa also has the capacity to be ‘nomadic’, treatments can also be arranged poolside or even on their houseboat for conferences, ladies’ pamper weekends and other special occasions. As a result guests at the hotel and non-residents can now look forward to the same African treatments for which Mangwanani is renowned – this includes the Moroccan Floor Massage as well as indulgent introductory specials on offer throughout the month of November.
Three Cities Jozini Tiger lodge is situated on the banks of the picturesque Jozini dam of KwaZulu Natal, in the heart of the Kingdom of the Zulu and home to South Africa’s best Tiger fishing. Easily accessible from Durban and Gauteng, the area’s rich heritage and untamed natural beauty adds to the excitement of this four-star luxury holiday destination. The hotel boasts 70 decadent rooms with superb on-site facilities and is the only property in the area to be built in such close proximity to Jozini Dam.
Ideal for weekends away, extended family holidays, conferencing, incentive packages, team building and international tour groups – it’s no wonder that guests who have frequented the hotel include those of local royalty, international dignitaries and heads of state. Three Cities Jozini Tiger Lodge in all its splendor is truly fit for a king.
